What are my options following an extraction?
In addition to providing you with a gentle and pain-free extraction, we will also advise you on your options for replacing the tooth, or teeth after extraction.
Broadly speaking there are four separate options. Firstly, do nothing! Not ALL teeth in ALL situations need to be replaced. Secondly, you may elect to wear a denture, or possibly add the tooth to an existing denture you already wear. Thirdly, you may decide to construct a bridge to replace the tooth. This option requires that the “anchor” teeth are in sound health, and there may be other factors that need to be assessed. And finally, you may elect to place a dental implant in the site. A dental implant is made of titanium, and acts as an anchor in the jaw, so that a permanent tooth, (usually made of tooth coloured porcelain) can replace the tooth you had removed. (Click on the links to get more information regarding these options)
All these options will be discussed with you at the time, and preparations can be made to get the ball rolling to replace that missing tooth.
